Venice in Peril

The world’s most prolific travel photographer, Vanessa Ballard has very kindly
donated some stunning shots of Venice carnivalia – I’ve thrown them an outside
party in gratitude.Tinsel, tulle and the beautiful masked gentlemen and ladies of
pleasure slowly do a last circuit of St Mark’s before going home to put their wet
feet up in front of a soap... no, don’t let’s spoil it. They’re off to enchanted places
to rest with sky-coloured cocktails, maybe a Balkan Sobranie and look at each
other and marvel at the beautiful life they’ve made...
